When the sun pours into your RV's big windows, it can feel like a spotlight if your shades don't work. This large spring kit restores tension so you can block the glare and get your comfort and privacy back.
A shade that won't work isn't just annoying - it throws off the whole feel of your space. Imagine: it's midafternoon and the sun's pouring through your RV windows. Instead of feeling open and bright, it's more like standing under a spotlight. The heat builds fast, turning your living space into an oven. You try lowering the shade, but it won't stay down or rolls up on its own. Without spring tension, the glare takes over, the temperature climbs, and your comfort disappears quicker than the kids when it's time to do the dishes. Once your shade is fixed, you'll get your cool, quiet space back. And while it can't make the kids do the dishes, at least you won't have to do them in a sauna.
Large kits in the 1700 Series are made for RV shades 53" wide and larger. If you're close to the upper end of a medium size, it won't hurt to go up to the large size. The only limit is the spring size and whether it fits inside your shade's roller tube. So before you order, check the spring inside your shade. If the internal diameter measures 17 mm, this is the right kit. With a standard tape measure, that's about 11/16" and roughly the size of a dime. If it measures closer to 1-1/8" (a little bigger than a quarter), you'll need one of the 28 mm spring kits instead.
Nothing stops a repair faster than missing hardware. This kit includes the spring, clips, brackets, screws, and endcaps, so you can fix the problem in one go and get your shade working like new. And all you need is 3 tools: a pair of pliers, a 1/8" Allen wrench, and a flat-head screwdriver.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our MCD Innovations RV Shade Repair Kit. Folks, this is gonna be perfect for smaller windows. This kit lets you move your shade by hand, and the spring keeps your shade in place for reliable comfort every day. This is designed for one small RV window shade.
The internal diameter of the spring for this kit is 17-millimeter, so make sure you're measuring everything to get the right one for your kit. So for me, the easiest way is to, one, know that it's 17 millimeters, but to two, measure the total length. This one looks like it's right at about 14 and 7/8 inches long overall. And then this little short guy, it seems to be pretty consistent with all the different ones I've measured, but it's right about 3.5 inches long. And then of course you get your clips with the set screws, and then you also get the four left and four right end caps to replace them as well.
Beige and black options are included. So folks, just a simple look together and of course your side brackets and these will go right in here and those would help turn this and give it a nice hold. So it's gonna come with instructions, make sure you're checking them out to get the repair done correctly and efficiently. And you can always reach out to us if you have questions. That's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together.
I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.
Worked perfectly!
